Vernon R. “Mick” Berger, 94, of Medford, died Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Aspirus Hospital in Medford.
In respect to Mick’s wishes, a private family graveside service with military honors will be held in the spring with burial at Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Mick was born March 15, 1927 in Medford to Julia (Stendel) and Herman Berger.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from August 16, 1945 until his honorable discharge on August 17, 1946. During his service, he was onboard the USS Great Grasp. He earned the Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Ribbon.
Mick worked as a carpenter and was a talented woodworker. His family and friends cherish the many treasures he has made over the years.
Mick is survived by his sisters-in-law, Armella Berger of Medford, Mabel Berger of Bruce Crossing and brother-in-law, Joe Evsich of Bessemer, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Norma Evsich, Robert “Rusty” Berger, Donald “Kay” Berger, Marilyn Carstensen, Wallace Berger and Ruth Ann Berger, in infancy.
