Sheldon Mayer, age 74 of Medford passed away peacefully on August 16, 2022 at Northwestern Hospital in McHenry, Illinois.
Loving father of Kyle (Denise) Mayer and Kealey (Evan) Boyd; Dearest grandfather of Adam Mayer, Thomas Mayer, Isaac Boyd and Bruno Boyd.
He was born in Medford, Wisconsin on October 30, 1947. He graduated from Westboro High School in 1965 and the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in 1969. Sheldon was in the US Air Force as a Strategic Navigator-Bombardier in the B-52 Stratofortress and a Vietnam War Veteran. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight on January 19, 1973.
Sheldon is survived by his two brothers Ron (Lynn) Mayer and James Mayer, his Ex-Wife Janis Mayer, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Florence Mayer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 17 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Whittlesey. Interment will be at Chelsea Community Cemetery with military honors provided by the Medford Area Military Honors Team.
Visitation will take place from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am, Monday, July 17 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
