Ruth Dupuis Obituary

Ruth E. (Frankki) Dupuis, 71, of Medford, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023 after a courageous 3.5 year battle with cancer, at her home surrounded by her family and while under the care of Aspirus Hospice.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 30 at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church, 4914 Holmes Street in Ogema with Donald Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow at Levitt Creek Cemetery, town of Hill, Price County.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday evening at Hemer-Pickerign Funeral Home in Medford, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Saturday at the church in Ogema.

Ruth was born February 9, 1952 in Medford to John and Alma (Leino) Frankki.  She grew up in Ogema and graduated from Prentice High School, class of 1970.

In 1972, she married Gerald Reynolds.  Together, they had one daughter, Tiffany.  They later divorced.  In 1981, she married Bob Buck and they later divorced.

On September 25, 1999, she married Wayne Dupuis in Menominee, Michigan.  They resided in Medford where Ruth continued her career as a certified nursing assistant for over 40 years.

Ruth was a talented artist and painted beautiful pieces for her family and friends.  She also enjoyed Swedish weaving, an art she learned from one of her residents she cared for.  Some of her favorite times were Family Game Night, which she and her siblings would take turns hosting and was always a great time.  A quote from Ruth out of her high school yearbook described her perfectly throughout her life, “Happy go lucky, fair and free, not many things bother me.”

She will be dearly missed by so many.

She is survived by her husband Wayne of Medford; a daughter, Tiffany (Gary) Volkman of Seymour; stepchildren, Deborah (Jay) Idhe of  Menominee, MI, Roger Dupuis of Oshkosh, Brenda (Jeff) Bauer of Menominee, MI; grandchildren, Rob (fiancée Alexa) Volkman, Isaac (Carolyn) Volkman, Clayton Volkman; step-grandson, Derek (Brooke) Collins; siblings, Shirley (Jack) Smith of Medford, Linda (Ron) Schmitt of Waukesha, Elaine (Jim) Leppala of Michigan, Carol (Fuzzy) Ellenbecker, Jim (Dorothy) Frankki, all of Medford, Paul (Judy) Frankki of Stetsonville; sister-in-law, Janice Frankki of Medford; brother-in-law, Larry Rogers of Waukesha; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Charles in infancy, John, George, Alfred, and Richard Frankki, Alice Rogers and Ethel Stenberg; and a step-granddaughter, Kaysi Turner.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Aspirus Cancer Center for their amazing care, especially Dr. Peterson and “her girls” in the Oncology Department. Also, thank you to the Aspirus Hospice Team for their kindness and compassion in Ruth’s final days and months.
