Robert M. “Bob” Gebert, 73, of Medford, died Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family while under the care of Hope Hospice.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford.  Military honors will be provided by the Stetsonville Boxrucker Berry American Legion Post 519, the Medford Military Honors Team & the State of Wisconsin Military Honor Guard. Immediately following, all are welcome to join the family for lunch and fellowship at the Medford Curling Club.

The service will be livestreamed on the church facebook page named Holy Rosary Parish.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday, October 4 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford with a prayer service at 7 p.m.  Visitation will resume on Saturday morning from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the church.

He will be laid to rest at a later date at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Little Black.

Bob was born March 13, 1951 in Medford to Melvin and Patricia (Habermeyer) Gebert.  He graduated from Medford High School in 1969.  He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam from 1969 until his honorable discharge in 1973, and traveled all throughout the South Pacific.

Bob worked as a master electrician for most of his career and worked at various businesses including, Kramer Plumbing and Kapfhammer Construction, before stating a career in facility maintenance at Taylor County Memorial Hospital, Phillips Plastics, All Metal Stamping, and Wadal Plastics.  He then started his own business, earning his master electrician license, working as an electrician throughout Taylor County and beyond.  He continued working well into retirement, helping area businesses, organizations, friends and family. 

He was a 2nd Class Power Engineer and Millwright and belonged to the National Assoc. of Power Engineers.  He was also a registered Emergency Medical Technician.

Bob was proud of his military service and continued serving as a member of the Stetsonville Boxrucker Berry American Legion where he was the former post commander.  He also served as Sergeant at Arms for District 11 American Legion.  He was grateful and honored to have been a chaperone for his father on the Honor Flight in September 2013.

He enjoyed camping, being at the cabin in Chetek with family and friends, curling, fishing, hunting, spending time on his land in Gilman, Jeep rides, and cherished time with his family.

He will be dearly missed by his three children, Nate (Kim) Gebert of Minneapolis, MN, Brad (Karyn) Gebert of Medford, Kristin (Dallas Egnor) Gebert of Iola; mother-in-law, Marcella Judnic of Medford; fiancée, Lisa Dums of Medford; siblings, Dennis (Mary) Gebert, Terry (Sue) Gebert, Marty (Kelly) Gebert, Mary (Bryan) Bormann, Mike Gebert and Bill (Pam) Gebert; and grandchildren, Mattie, Kella and Hazel.  He is further survived by Lisa’s family, her children, Dana (Brad) Martyn of Athens, Blake (Ashley) Dums of Medford; and grandchildren, Emillie, Jaxson, Brantley, and Jolene; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat; his parents; sister, Donna Gebert; and father-in-law, Clarence Judnic.
