Richard "Slats" E. Viergutz

Richard “Slats” E. Viergutz, 91, of Medford, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Aspirus Care and Rehab.

Cremation rites have been accorded and no services will be held.

Richard was born on April 24, 1932 to Ferd and Hilda (Borman) Viergutz in Medford. He lived on Gibson Street in Medford for all his life.  He worked various jobs since he was 17 years old.  He worked for the City of Medford for 7 years and for SD Ellenbecker, off and on, until his retirement at 62. He married Shirley Kleinschmidt-Clarkson on October 3, 1981.

Richard loved ice fishing and hunting. He was always there to help others.

Richard is survived by his wife, Shirley; step-children Rick and Sue Clarkson; step-grandson, Jesse Clarkson.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harvey; sisters, Mildred and Margerie.
