Randy Poncek, 56, of Ogema, died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 20, 2024.
He was born July 10, 1968 in Westboro to Joseph B. and Eleanor B. (Lageman) Poncek. He graduated from Rib Lake High School, class of 1987. He married Casey Woodrow on October 22, 1988 and later divorced.
Randy is remembered for his adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors. He cherished time spent fishing and hunting, and his enthusiasm for UTVing and snowmobiling brought joy to many. His passion for travel led him to live in various places from New York, Texas, Kansas, to Washington and finally Nebraska, where he worked on building and maintaining towers, demonstrating his strong work ethic and dedication.
In recent years, Randy found fulfillment as an over-the-road truck driver for J. Bauer Trucking, a role that allowed him to explore the country he loved. He was known for his friendly demeanor and willingness to help others, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him.
He is survived by his two sons, Jared Randy of Harpursville, NY, Ethan Taylor (Kathy Roe) of North Platte, Nebraska; siblings, Barbara (Bill) Holden, Michael (Kim), James (Julie), Bruno, Joyce (Robert) Matyka, JoAnn (Joseph) Leader, Jerry (Jo), Catherine Lemke, Willard, Nancy (Steve) Hamm, Theresa, Bonnie, Peter (Tammy Rowe), and Thomas: and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Bernard “Bernie” Jr., Margaret “Maggie” Sacharski, Jaquelyn. Edward and Ellen; brothers-in-law, Stanley “Sonny” Sacharski, Erhardt G. Lemke; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Poncek.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2025 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake with Fr. Julian Druffner officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
