Obituary

Michael A. Goen-Penney, 57, of Dorchester, passed away at home on June 6, 2022.

A memorial service for Michael will take place at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Community United Church of Christ, with a luncheon to follow. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM.

Mike was born to Jerry Goen and Betty Justice on March 17, 1965. When he was younger his favorite thing to do was camping with his parents. They traveled to many beautiful parks out west. He attended school in Las Vegas. After school he moved to Oceanside, California and lived with his father and pursues a career in computer technology.

In 1986, Mike met his spouse, Jerry, a match truly made in heaven. Mike and Jerry were loyal servants to God, first and foremost. Mike loved the church and loved sharing the love and warmth of our savior, Jesus Christ, with as many people as possible. He was proud to serve the church. He attended 3 years at Lay Academy. He was presently United Church of Christ Northwest Association Treasurer. He initiated the process for Community United Church of Christ to become an open and affirming church.

Mike joins his mother, Betty, and father, Jerry, in heaven. He is survived by loving family members, including his husband, Jerry; brother, Greg; and two nieces, Taylor and Hayley.
