Mardell M. "Marty" Vircks

Mardell M. “Marty” Vircks, 68, of Colby, died Friday, March 25, 2022 while under the care of Heartland Hospice.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 30 at Hemer-Pickerign Funeral Home in Medford with Pastor David Clements officiating. 

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

She was born September 15, 1953 in Cortland, New York to Arthur and Lela (Turner) Walls.  She grew up in New York then moved to the Medford area, where she met the love of her life, Brian Vircks.  In 1972, they married and moved to Phoenix, Arizona where they resided for 25 years.  They moved to Colby in 2013 to be near family.

Marty was a nurturer and enjoyed caring for others, and so it made sense that she worked in home health care most of her life and was a foster parent as well.  She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they will miss her dearly.  She also enjoyed playing pool and darts, going to garage sales, and cooking.

Survivors include her husband, Brian Vircks of Colby; her children, Charles Vircks of Medford, Ann Fannin (Terry Tischendorf) of Medford; siblings, Sandy (Dave) Maurer, Dawn (Darryl) Felzkowski, and Linda (Paul) Nuernberger; sister-in-law, Susan Walls; grandchildren, Tristin, Kelsey, Desiree, and Chorin Vircks, and Emily Fannin; great-grandchildren, Darcy, Jaylen, Janice and Kash; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Kathy Meyer and Melody Walls; and brother Arthur Walls.
