Luella "Lou" Thiede Obituary

Luella R. “Lou” Thiede, age 91, of Medford, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Aspirus Cedar Lane Apts. while under the care of Hope Hospice.

Luella was born March 27, 1933 in Rib Lake to Abel and Evelyn (La Porte) Christianson.

On February 3, 1951, she married Les Thiede, who preceded her in death August 23, 2011.  They had celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Her greatest achievement in life was raising her six children.  She enjoyed gardening and had an amazing green thumb for indoor and outdoor plants.  She also liked baking and keeping sweets in the house for all her boys.  In her later years she made many quilts and enjoyed taking them to auctions.  She also made many booties and hats for the Medford Birthing Center.  She was also pretty proud of being the Bingo Queen at the assisted living.

She is survived by her six children, Kathy (Bud) Mohr of Green Bay, Chuck Thiede, Jeff Thiede, Julie (Mike) Brost, Lori (Roger) Haizel, Bill (Carmen) Thiede, all of Medford.  She was so very cherished by her surviving grandchildren, Scott Haizel, Joshua (Sophia) Thiede, Cassi (Carl) Zondlo, Nikki Brost, Philip (Karen) Brost, Brock Thiede, Karyn (Eric) St. Aubin, Brian (Heather) Mohr, Thane Mohr, Kevin (Doreen) Mohr; nine great-grandchildren, Parker, Beau, Brielle, Rylee, Ella, Kenzie, Bailey, Kenlee, and Karsyn; two great-great-grandchildren, Ashtyn and Roman; a sister, Ardean (Fred) Claycamp; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene and Sharon Thiede; sister-in-law, Marcy Thiede; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Marlyn Charles who died in infancy and Rodney in 2006; and her husband, Les.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Medford with Rev. Daniel Iwinski officiating.  Interment will be at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery II, Medford.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials are appreciated and may be designated to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Hope Hospice.

Luella’s family wishes to express their sincere thanks to all the nurses and staff at Cedar Lane and Hope Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion given to our mother and our family.
