Lois Jean Schoepke

Lois Jean Schoepke, 92, passed into the arms of the Lord on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at the Methwick Community located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Although a lifelong Medford resident, Lois had resided in Cedar Rapids at the Methwick Community since 2019 due to health considerations.

Lois was born in Medford on June 29, 1932, to Louis and Kamilla Zander. Lois attended school in Medford. Upon graduating from high school, she attended and graduated from teachers’ college. Post-graduation, Lois taught school in a one room school house in rural Medford. After a few years of teaching, Lois accepted a position in the Medford High School office where she met Walter Schoepke. The two were married on June 16, 1956. They enjoyed a wonderful life together in Medford, spending time with family, and at their cottage at Sacketts Lake until Walter’s death in 2016.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents, Louis and Kamilla; and her sister, Elaine. She is survived by her daughter, Marilee (Mike) Vail, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and her son, Gregory (Mary Jo) Schoepke, New Berlin; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

It was Lois’s wish that she be cremated upon her death and buried in Medford alongside her husband, Walter. A graveside burial service will take place at 11:00 AM Friday, May 16, 2025 at Evergreen Cemetery 2. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be directed to the Methwick Foundation.
