Kenneth F. “John” Berger, 87, of Rib Lake, died peacefully on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Rib Lake Health Services.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m – 2 p.m., Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Hemer-Pickerign Funeral Home in Medford. As per John’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.
John was born August 29, 1934 in Medford to Leila (Jochimsen) and Frederick Berger.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1959.
John married Joyce, and they resided in Massachusetts, where John worked in masonry for a construction company, erecting large buildings such as hospitals; then worked in logging for Tom Hartwig.
He loved watching baseball and football and had a knack for knowing sport statistics. His favorite football player was Tom Brady and he followed him even when he left the Patriots. He also loved to hunt, fish and be outdoors. He was generous, kind, well liked and very witty. He will be dearly missed.
John is survived by a sister, Katie Quinn of Milwaukee; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce; and three sisters, Bernice, Lucille and Jenny.
