Fredric "Fred" Miller Obituary

Fredric “Fred” W. Miller, age 92, of Medford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

A celebration of Fred’s life will be held at a later date.

Fred was born on January 29, 1933, in Medford to William and Margaret (Tappe) Miller. He attended Medford schools and graduated from Medford High School in 1952. Following graduation, Fred proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956. While stationed in New York City, he met his future wife, Elizabeth “Anne” Contorsi. The couple was united in marriage on June 23, 1956, in New York City.

After their marriage, Fred and Anne returned to Medford, where Fred purchased the Purina Food Mill from his father in 1956. He successfully owned and operated the mill for 30 years until his retirement in 1986. Following retirement, the couple moved to Arkansas, and later, in 1989, to Florida, where Fred managed a golf course. In 2017, they returned to Medford.

Fred was an avid golfer and curler and also enjoyed bowling.

Fred is survived by his children: William (Karin) Miller of Janesville, Susan (Terry) Gebert of Medford, Nancy (Robert) Sheasby of Winneconne, and Gayle (Scott) Perrin of Medford; his grandchildren: Tasha, Shane, Chad, Heidi, Corey, Amanda, Robert, Danielle, Andrew, Craig, and Jonathon; ten great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary Holzhausen; brother, Jim (Charlotte) Miller; sister-in-law, Madeleine O’Connor; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Miller; his beloved wife, Anne Miller; granddaughter, Jennifer Miller; and sister, Marge Bartlet.
