Eugene "Ole" D. Olson

Eugene “Ole” D. Olson, 84, of Medford, passed away on December 22, 2022 at Abbotsford Health Care under the care of Hope Hospice.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Hemer-Pickerign Funeral Home, Medford Chapel, with Pastor David Clements officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

Eugene was born on August 9, 1938 to Casper Sr. and Alma (Nelson) Olson in the township of Chelsea. He attended Perkinstown Elementary School, Hannibal High School, and graduated from Medford High School. He married Judy Brink on January 30 1960 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Medford; she survives. Eugene worked various jobs throughout his life, but he worked at Hurd Millwork for 40 years until his retirement in 2004.

Eugene enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball, baseball, football, woodworking, and bowling.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Robin (Byron) Mallo and Scott (Liz) Olson, both of Medford; grandchildren, Ryann (Steve) Mallo-Isaak, Brandon (Chelsea Zak) Mallo, and Zach (Jen) Olson; great-grandchildren, Grayson Scott Mallo, Stevie Dawn Isaak, and Paislee Mae Mallo; brother, Edwin Olson of Wales, WI; sister-in-law, Shirley Olson of Withee. Eugene is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dawn Olson in 2015; sisters, Doris Faude and Katherine Singleton; brothers, Alvin and Casper Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Eugene’s name may be given to the family for use at a later date.
