Ervin E. Schmidt

Ervin E. Schmidt, 92, of Medford, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Country Gardens.

A memorial service will held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Daniel Iwinski officiating. Burial will follow at Medford Evergreen II. Visitation will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM followed by military honors performed by the Medford Military Honors Team.

Ervin was born on June 25, 1929 to John and Frieda (Fisher) Schmidt in Medford. He attended Wayside School in the town of Hammel.  He worked on the family farm and as a logger. He served in the US Army from 1953 – 1955. While in the service he took basic courses in mechanics and mountaineering. After his service he attended a short course on farming and farmed the family farm for 40 years. He was also carpenter for many years. He Married Delores Hoeve on September 8, 1956 at Immanuel Lutheran Church; she survives.

In his spare time, Ervin enjoyed making wood crafts, fishing, dancing, and gardening.

In addition to his wife, Ervin is survived by his children, Wayne (Kathy) Schmidt, Debra Schmidt, Gail (David) Faber, Dawn (Patrick) Janko, Darla (Rodney) Mueller, and Melody (Daniel) Kuenne; grandchildren, John Giffiths, Jennifer Rosenburg, Jeremy and Corey Faber, April Byrd, Jamie Syryczak, Christopher Syryczak, Travis and Lucas Mueller, Amanda Meyer, Samantha and Tabitha Kuenne; 16 great-grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren; siblings, Roy Schmidt, Louise Piller, Gloria Spreen; sister-in-law Christine Schmidt. Ervin is further survived by other family and friends.

Ervin was preceded in death by his parents,; siblings, Arnold Schmidt, Marvin Schmidt, Lenora Johnson, and Ruth Schrouth; brother-in-law Herbert Hoever.
