Eric J. "Smeagol" Doberstein

Eric James Doberstein, (nickname "Smeagol") of Withee, passed away on June 1, 2025 as the result of a motor vehicle accident near Stetsonville at the age of 28.

Eric was born April 14, 1997 in Wausau to Elvin Doberstein and Elaine Wardyski.  He grew up in the area and graduated from Medford High School in 2016.

Eric was an avid bear hunter and outdoorsman.  If you knew him, you would know he had one of the biggest hearts of any person.  He tried to be the life of the party and always had a story to tell.

He will be greatly missed by his father, Elvin Doberstein; sister, Elizabeth (Taylor Dickman) Doberstein; godmother, Julie Wasylko; nephew, Aiden Doberstein; and all of his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Eric will be held at a later date.
