Donald Mueller Obituary

 

Donald D. Mueller, 89, of the City of Medford, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021 at Abbotsford Healthcare Center where he resided his last few days. 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford with the Rev. Daniel Iwinski officiating.  Military honors by the Medford Area Military Honors Team will be held at the church after the service.  Interment will follow at Medford Evergreen II Cemetery.  “Fair winds and following seas.”

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Donald was born March 20, 1932 in the Town of Deer Creek to the late Albert and Twylah (Hayes) Mueller.  He grew up in Medford and graduated from Medford High School in 1950.  Don was very proud of his accomplishments in his high school football and basketball careers. 

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1955.

On July 16, 1960, Donald married Luanne Brunner at Holway Lutheran Church.  They resided in Medford where Donald worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1988.  Luanne preceded him in death on July 22, 2021.

Donald and Luanne enjoyed travelling and spent many winters as snowbirds in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Florida.  He loved to cheer on all of the Wisconsin sports teams!  In his younger years, he enjoyed reading, walking, bowling and golfing.  Don adored their dog, Maxwell. 

Don was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Stetsonville American Legion, and the Medford VFW. 

Survivors include four sons, Joseph (Rhonda), Jeffrey (Karen), all of Medford, Lance of Tomahawk, Tim (Melody) of Kronenwetter;  a sister, Donna Goodman of Medford; brothers and sisters-in-law,  John “Jack” Brunner of Marshfield, James (Joanne) Brunner, and Carol Strebig, all of Medford;  grandchildren, Jaclyn (Ryan) Lemke of Medford, Megan (Zach Mitchell) Mueller of Ingalls, MI, Lauren (Corey) Paczkowski of Eau Claire, Blake (Emily) Mueller of Fond du Lac; great-grandchildren, Bella and Luke Lemke, Jerry Mueller-Roiger, Trytan Paczkowski and Everette Mueller; his best friend & canine companion, Maxwell; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Luanne; a brother, Jim Mueller and brother-in-law, Jack Goodman.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Donald’s name to Immanuel Lutheran Church and School .
