We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Medford Location
Darlene Jean Teele, age 70, of Prentice, formerly of Wausau, died Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Aspirus Hospital in Medford.
She was born November 6, 1951 in Phillips to Lela (Stade) and Ralph Hartmann. She graduated from Prentice High School, class of 1969. She continued her education at Rice Lake Technical College where she met her future husband Dan Teele. Darlene and Dan were married on May 16, 1970 and together had one daughter. They later divorced.
Darlene lived in Wausau where she first worked at Wausau Technical College, where she also took classes and earned an associates degree in accounting. She then worked in the cash office at Kmart for many years, then was a secretary for Management Recruiters.
Darlene was a natural caregiver and loved children so she became a foster parent in the Wausau area. She housed and cared for many children over the 25 years that she was a foster parent and she loved them all.
In 2008, Darlene moved back to the Prentice area to purchase “Ds’ Burger & Bowl” bowling alley with her sister Dorie, which they owned and operated until 2019.
She enjoyed reading and traveling. Her favorite place to visit was Florida, but she had traveled extensively throughout the U.S., including Hawaii and Alaska.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane Teele of Prentice; grandson, KC (Megen) Teele of Savage, MN; siblings, Dorie Anklam, Dennis (Walda) Hartmann, Dale (Kristin) Hartmann, Duke (Ann) Hartmann, all of Prentice; sister-in-law, Bev Hartmann of Prentice; and many nieces and nephews. Sadly, her brother Dennis passed away just a day after Darlene on June 19, 2022.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, David Anklam; sister-in-law, Diane Hartmann; a sister, Donna Hartmann in infancy; and a brother, Darwin Hartmann.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date with burial at Lakeside Cemetery in Phillips.
