Charles G. "Chuck" Northway

Charles G. “Chuck” Northway, 83, of Medford, died Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Aspirus Care and Rehabilitation in Medford and while under the care of Hope Hospice.

A memorial mass will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, July 6 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford with Fr. Patrick McConnell officiating. 

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Chuck was born August 16, 1939 in Green Bay to Edwin C. and Dorothy C. (Bisson) Northway. 

On April 18, 1959 he married Carol Daun in Charlesburg. They resided in Medford.

Chuck started out as an over the road trucker, then worked all aspects in the transportation industry, from safety to dispatch to office work, he did it all. He later purchased his own truck and went back on the road hauling for various companies.  He “retired” at age 59 but was soon living life through a windshield again driving tour bus for Krug’s, then driving taxi.  In his leisure, he enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing.

Chuck and Carol enjoyed winters in Texas, where Chuck volunteered at the local fire dept. where he would consult on their trucks and driving skills.

He was best known in the area for playing Santa.  He did this for many years at the local movie theater, Knights of Columbus Christmas parties, Walmart, the Red Higgins Christmas shows, and many private gatherings. 

He is survived by his wife, Carol of Medford; five children, Chris (Kris) Northway of Omro, Carla (Keith) Kuehmichel of Marshfield, Clay Northway of Medford, Charles (Laura) Northway of Milladore, Craig (Tammy) Northway of Chili; a brother, Gary Northway of Green Bay; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Larry and Richard “Dick” Northway.
