Charles Matyka

Charles Matyka, 98, of Rib Lake, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Aspirus Hospital in Medford.

A Funeral Mass for Charles will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, with Father Jayanna Kanna officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anne’s Historic Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday November 18, 2022 from 9:30 AM until the time of mass at 11:00 AM.

Charles was born on July 29, 1924 to Joseph and Agnes Matyka in Rib Lake. He was married June 7, 1958 to Mary Jane Schmidtfranz at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rib Lake. She preceded him death on April 5, 1984. As a young adult he worked in Milwaukee for 4 years and then he farmed for over 30 years in Rib Lake. He then worked at the recycling center in Rib Lake for 18 years. He finally fully retired at the age of 95.

Charles was a parishioner of Assumption Catholic Church in Chelsea until it closed and then was a parishioner of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake. He loved all his children and grandchildren very much and felt truly blessed by all the wonderful neighbors he had.

Charles is survived by his daughters Betty Radtke of Rib Lake, Rose (Greg) Anderson of Marshfield, Barbara Matyka of Rib Lake, and Audrey (Ryan) Metz of Rib Lake; 2 sisters-in-law, Bernice and Gladis Matyka of Rib Lake; grandchildren, Michael, Alysia, Jared, Eric (Gabriella), Gabriel, Catherine, Lillian, Benjamin, and Joshua. Charles is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Jane; daughter, Janet; son, Raymond; grandson, Christopher Metz; brothers and sisters, Joe (Irene), Jim, Agnes (Herman) Maager, Mary, Elizabeth (Harold) Gauger, John (Irene), Frank, Ann (Joe) Erl, Sister Catherine, Lucy (Marvin) Liske, Peter, and Paul (Deloris) Matyka.
