Carol Ann Kress, 73, of Stetsonville, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 19 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville with Fr. Patrick McConnell officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
Memorials are appreciated and may be given in Carol’s honor to the Humane Society of Taylor County or to the Stetsonville Volunteer Fire Dept.
Carol was born on December 9, 1950 in St. Paul, MN to Anthony and Alice (Hauwiller) Menke. She was a 1968 graduate of Highland Park, MN Senior High.
On October 5, 1974, she married the love of her life Leon Kress at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in St. Paul by Monsignor Alphonse Kress.
After her education, she worked for a short time at Mutual Service Insurance Co., then was employed for seven years at 3M, all in St. Paul. In 1976, she and Leon purchased a dairy farm in the town of Deer Creek, where they farmed for 25 years.
She enjoyed travelling, especially to historic sites in our great country. She also enjoyed camping, reading and nature. She volunteered at their church and was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband, Leon; brother, Anthony (Sandy) Menke of Roseville, MN; brother-in-law, Andrew Hybben of MN; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Roger) Olson of New Brighton, MN, Valeria Piburn of Denton, TX, Mary Jo Kress of Green Bay; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Alice Hybben; brothers-in-law, William “Bill” Kress and John Piburn.
