Linda Darlene Scheithauer, 74, of Rib Lake, died Sunday, October 24, 2021, while surrounded by her loving family at Aspirus hospital in Medford.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

She was born July 12, 1947, in Milwaukee, WI, to Isabel (Frank) and Elwood Bleck.  She attended the Rib Lake Area Schools and graduated from Rib Lake High School in 1965. As a young girl, Linda first worked as a babysitter for many neighborhood families. She then worked at the Rib Lake Nursing Home her junior and senior year of high school. Upon graduation, she moved to Milwaukee and worked for Northwestern Mutual Insurance. On September 11, 1965, she married Allen Scheithauer in Rib Lake.  Linda gave birth to their first child, Bryan Lee Scheithauer, who was born prematurely and sadly passed away just hours after birth.  Allen was then drafted into the military, and the couple moved back to Rib Lake. Linda began working for the Shoe Factory in Rib Lake, stayed home with her children for a few years, and then returned to the Shoe Factory. She later took a job at Tombstone Pizza, where she worked for seven years on the assembly line, making pizzas.  In 1982, she began working at Weathershield. She worked in the Custom Products Division, making custom windows.  She worked at Weathershield for 20 years, before she retired.

Linda was a faithful member of Saint Peters Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and a reliable volunteer for church events. She loved her church community and had a very strong faith in the Lord.

Linda learned how to sew in high school. She provided demonstrations at the Gamble Store in Rib Lake, giving lessons on sewing and how to use a sewing machine. She made clothes and special outfits for her children, as well as making curtains and clothes/costumes for church. She made quilts for her children and grandchildren.  She also enjoyed macramé, collecting figurines, and gardening. She loved growing flowers and grew all types.  Both Allen and Linda enjoyed feeding and watching the hummingbirds by their home. For many years they had three large gardens and often grew too much. They loved to share their vegetables with friends and family. They canned a lot of their vegetables and made the best sauerkraut in the world.  They were also famous for their dill pickles and were permanently volunteered to bring them for family gatherings.  Linda was also a fabulous cook and loved planning and making food for parties.  Anyone who knew Linda and her cooking would often seek out her food during gatherings or events. She loved to cook for her loved ones and always made too much food. Linda loved to watch sports. She was an avid Brewers and Packers fan, but most enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports and other activities they enjoyed.  Linda became an avid reader in retirement and regularly visited her local library.

Linda loved visiting with people and made friends wherever she went.  Most important of all, she loved her family and lived for them.  She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Allen Scheithauer; her five children Michele (David) Dahl of Medford, Lisa (Shannon Halopka) Scheithauer of Medford, Jeff Scheithauer of Rib Lake, Kim (Mike) Schlais of Cadott, and Kari (Eric) Napier of Fort Wayne, IN; sister, Pat (Larry) Judnic of Rib Lake; brothers and sisters in-laws, Alice Smola, Delores Scheithauer, Herbert (Ruth) Scheithauer, Dennis (Cathy) Scheithauer, all of Rib Lake, Laverne Scheithauer of Medford, Barb Steinman of Fond du Lac; grandchildren, Brett (Trudy Grussinger) Dohrwardt, Wyatt Dohrwardt, Dakota (Carlie Rau) Dahl, Corissa (Dakota Zimmerman) Scheithauer, Casey Scheithauer, Rhonnie Jo Scheithauer, Mason Svee, Layla Schlais, Annika Wright, Jaxon Napier; great-grandchildren, Everly Flatland, Adahlei Zimmermann, and many nieces and nephews.
